Spooktacular Halloween Promo Ideas for Your Business

Spooktacular Halloween Promo Ideas for Your Business

While we don’t get quite as crazy as the Americans do, Halloween has grown in popularity in New Zealand over the last decade.
Now, in most neighbourhoods, you will find mini ghosts, witches, superheroes and princesses roaming the streets. You will also notice more and more businesses jumping on board decorating their stores for the occasion.
Why is this spooktacular “holiday” so popular?

Because it is full of fun! Costumes, candy, community spirit and parties… what’s not to love?
So, if you are thinking about embracing the spirit of spookiness in your business, you are on to a good thing. After Christmas and Easter, Halloween is one of the biggest shopping “holidays” of the year.
The great thing is, you don’t have to sell candy or costumes to participate.
No matter what kind of business you run, there are plenty of ways to jump on the pumpkin-filled wagon. Let’s take a look at a few of the best.

    Hang A Few Cobwebs

Halloween is a time of year to have a bit of fun and get into the spirit of creepy-crawliness. If you have a bricks and mortar business, get to decorating! It doesn’t take much to make a pretty decent Halloween-themed display.
You don’t have to go all out. Decorate your window display, your front entrance, or just the checkout area. Of course, feel free to go all out and make your business the most Halloween-y, cool and creepy place in town to draw in the customers!
If you only have an online presence, no problem! It’s even easier to add a few virtual pumpkins or bats to your website or social media feed to acknowledge the time of year.

    Create Halloween-Themed Products

There are plenty of ways that you can theme your offerings for the season. Food and drink vendors can easily come up with some creative Halloween cocktails, mocktails, or pumpkin lattes. Bakeries can create awesomely decorated offerings worthy of Instagram sharing or sell pumpkin cookies.
It is not just eateries that can capitalise on this holiday. Any business can do something creative. Think outside the box to create something unique and quirky for your business. Pet shops can sell outfits for the furry family members, apparel stockists can embrace orange and black, printers can create slogan t-shirts or wall hangings, hardware stores can sell zombie survival gear… you get the idea.

    Spookify Your Content

If your business has a blog, think of ways to tie in useful content with a Halloween theme. For example, a garden centre might write about how to grow the best pumpkins, a makeup supplier could offer tutorials on Halloween makeup, and dentists might want to talk about the problems with eating too many sweets.

    Encourage Interaction

Build your reach on social media by hosting a competition for the best Halloween-themed snack, costume, pet-outfit, display, or other concept. Provide a prize and create a hashtag for your business, encouraging people to like, share and submit photos. This is a great way to find new customers and build relationships with existing ones.
Don’t forget to get your team (and their pets!) in on the action too.

    Give ‘Em All The Treats

Encourage trick or treaters to your store by giving away goodies in store. You can even get lollies that have your branding on if you want to go all out. Don’t forget to hand out coupons or other incentives to draw people back in after Halloween is over.

    Host An Event

One of the coolest parts of Halloween is the community aspect. People come together to celebrate the fun with parties, trick or treating, or events for the kids. You could consider hosting your own event. Maybe host a pumpkin-carving competition, a horror movie viewing, or a themed Halloween party. This may not be possible for all businesses, but it is a great way to get people in the door for many.
